Little Gestures, Big Flavours

The picture may not be perfect—but the heart behind the food absolutely is.

Today’s lunch felt special in the quietest way.

As we sat down to eat, Anand asked, “How does it taste?”

I smiled. “You know it’s yummy. The highlight? The aroma—the ginger tadka caught in the lemon rice is wah! Just the right amount of spice and salt made it perfect.”

(In that moment, I felt a little happiness stir—he remembered me saying I wanted to make Chitranna today.)

Anand grinned. “And the curd rice?”

“You make the best mosaranna,” I told him. “That nutty flavor? It has to be the roasted channa dal and urad dal. You nailed it.”

Sometimes love is loud. Today, it was gently stirred into rice and served on a quiet afternoon.
