A Kingdom of Toys

As the sun dipped below the horizon, it was time for my daily ritual—gathering scattered toys from the floor and folding the playmats. A tiny task, yet oddly grounding. It helps me prepare a blank canvas for tomorrow’s joyful mess.

Today was no different. My baby lay on the bed, happily playing, her giggles painting a soft smile on my face. As I began collecting her toys into a little box, I noticed her eyes closely following my every move—tiny, curious, and full of expression.

Just as I was about to put the box away, I heard a soft “ummmm” and saw her waving her tiny hands at me with great urgency. It took me a moment to decipher her adorable message—but then I got it. She was saying, “Those are my toys! Hand them over!”

I couldn’t help but laugh at her silent, yet bold claim. So, I turned the box toward her—and just like that, her kingdom was restored. Dolls, bears, and frogs spilled out, right where they belong.

And just like that… my “tiny task” returned to to-do list!
